Management Profile

Anita Ohlhausen, MS, Managing Director of April Group, Inc., has contributed to the clinical laboratory and pharmaceutical contract research organization (CRO) industry for 17 years.  She has held sales management, business development, and product specialist roles in large and small laboratories and CROs.

Ms. Ohlhausen holds a Master of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Maryland and is a Fellow of the American Dietetic Association.  Her undergraduate degree in Dietetics is from Fontbonne Unviersity in St. Louis, MO. 

Her research thesis, an animal study, was the springboard for her interest in clinical research.   After teaching, writing, and providing nutrition counseling, Ohlhausen moved into industry by selling diabetes testing products for Boehringer Mannheim Diagnostics (now part of Roche).  Ohlhausen subsequently joined Nichols Institute (now Quest Diagnostics) to market that firm’s esoteric diagnostic services to physicians, hospitals, and research institutions. 

After a successful period within Quest’s Clinical Trials central laboratory division, Ohlhausen contributed significantly to the growth of Quintiles and MDS Pharma Services.  At the two latter organizations, which are full-service CROs, she worked with all aspects of drug development, primarily from a laboratory testing perspective, but extending into bio-analytical, pre-clinical, and phase I-IV clinical development services. In 2003 Ohlhausen formed a business to provide executive search and recruitment services to the Pharma, Biotech, and CRO sectors.
